Most HVAC marketing advice is written for the sunbelt, where cooling is the whole business. Northwest Oklahoma is not that market — the no-heat call in a January cold snap is at least as valuable as the August breakdown, and it is far more urgent.
That single difference changes which pages get built, when they get built, and what the site is optimised to capture.
Sitting where Woodward sits, you get genuine cold. A furnace failure on a night in the teens is not an inconvenience, it is an emergency with a frozen-pipe consequence attached, and the search behaviour reflects that: shorter deliberation, more phone calls, less comparison.
Which means the heating pages should be the strongest ones on the site, not the afterthought they usually are. Most HVAC sites we audit in this region have three cooling pages and one paragraph about furnaces, because the template came from an agency in Phoenix.
The calendar then follows from that. Furnace repair and replacement pages need to be live and indexed by early autumn, which means they get written in summer. Cooling pages get written in winter. Working a season ahead is not an optimisation here — it is the whole plan, because Google needs months of history before it trusts a page.
There is a third demand stream worth naming. Woodward County's economy runs on energy and agriculture, and labour force participation is 66.6%. Shop, office and light industrial mechanical work is a real market here, it is far less contested in search than residential, and it does not follow the residential seasonal curve at all.
At 64.7% owner-occupancy, replacement is a substantial share of your revenue rather than a rare event. The replacement page — efficiency, warranty, financing — deserves the same attention as the repair page, and usually gets a tenth of it.
“Furnace not working” and “new heating system cost” are different people at different stages. Optimising a single page for both is the most common reason HVAC sites in small markets rank for neither.
With 66.6% labour force participation and an economy built on energy and agriculture, light commercial mechanical work is a genuine revenue line. It is also a much thinner SERP than residential HVAC, which makes it cheap to rank for.
Start in the wrong month and you pay for visibility that arrives after the demand has gone.
Technical work first: indexation, speed, schema, internal links. Then the furnace repair and replacement pages, written in July so they have index history by October.
Google Business Profile categories, services, attributes, photos and posting, plus NAP consistency across the aggregators. Your OK licence number goes on the profile as well as the site.
No-heat is a phone call, not a form. Number above the fold, click-to-call everywhere, hours and after-hours policy stated plainly. This is the page that earns your winter.
Same logic, opposite season. AC repair and replacement written in January so they are trusted by June.
The maintenance agreement page is the only thing that earns between spikes, and review recency is the most controllable ranking factor you have. Both run continuously rather than in campaigns.
If you do shop, office or agricultural mechanical work, it gets its own pages and its own keywords. Different buyer, different SERP, far less competition.
Profile work shows in 8–14 weeks; content pages take 4 to 7 months. In a seasonal trade that means the work you commission in one season is the work that pays in the next.
It will not flatten your seasonality. Nothing does. It can raise the peaks and build a maintenance base that makes the troughs survivable.
It also will not create demand. Woodward has 4,885 households and a population down 4.0% since 2020. A monthly lead guarantee in that market would be a made-up number.
The audit is free. Ongoing work is a monthly fee, not a build fee — this is a different service from our $349 website.

In northwest Oklahoma, yes. A no-heat call in a hard freeze is more urgent, more expensive to ignore and less price-shopped than a summer breakdown. Most HVAC site templates are built for cooling-dominant markets and get this backwards.
By early summer. Technical and profile work needs 8–14 weeks to show, content pages 4 to 7 months. Starting in October means the benefit arrives in spring.
Often it is the best opportunity on the page. The SERP is far thinner than residential HVAC, the jobs are larger, and Woodward County's economy supports it. It needs its own pages, not a bullet on a residential list.
Not as a ranking factor. It matters for conversion and it is a CIB advertising requirement. A homeowner can verify you through the board's lookup in seconds, and very few of your competitors make that easy.
The first-pass audit is free and the findings are yours. Ongoing local SEO starts at $199/month scaled to your market. Separate from the $349 website build.
Rarely, in a market this size. Six to eight strong service pages plus a well-run profile beat a monthly article nobody reads. We would rather spend the budget on reviews and the pages that convert.
Year on year for the same period, not month on month. Comparing January to April in this trade tells you about the weather, not about the work.
Yes. It is the only category that does not spike, which makes it the thing you promote when nothing is breaking, and it is usually the highest return page on an HVAC site.
Yes — GMB packages start at $99/month. For a single-location company that is sometimes the highest-value thing to fix first, and we will say so rather than selling you more.
The audit distinguishes a ranking problem from a website problem. If the site is slow or thin, a $349 rebuild is usually cheaper than optimising around it.
